Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

The food is disgusting, i'd rather eat at taco bell.

Service was ok. Waiter wasn't very personable but assistant was there often. Had to ask 2 times for glass of ice. Salsa was way too spicy and they didn't have a milder one so that lowered our rating. My husband who can handle hotter couldn't eat it. It was also very runny. We ordered 3 combo meal and shared it which was plenty of food. Food was tasty. We ordered a side of Guacamole which was good. (Since we couldn't handle the hot salsa)

I like this place. We stopped by on our way back from hiking the Craggs. I love the decor. It's a bit busy I must admit, but this is what I feel Mexican places should look like. Fun colors, kitchy decor, carved tables and chairs painted in bright coloring, mexican blankets used as drapery on the windows. All the nine yards. :) The amount of food they served us was INSANE. It was soooooo much. Our bellies ached when we got back in the car. The food was pretty good as Tex-Mex goes. And the staff was super friendly. We liked it and we'll be back if we happen to be in the area again.

Eh... Food is okay but somehow everything seems to taste the same no matter what you order. We do enjoy the chips and salsa. The service is usually pretty bad. One of the better Mexican food choices in Woodland Park, but that's not saying a whole lot. We make the trip down to the springs when we want good Mexican food.
(2)Robert R.
My family and I really enjoyed this place on our way out of town during our visit. The food was great as was the service. We will definitely return on our next trip to Woodland Park, CO.

Fiesta Mexicana has a charming, festive atmosphere, quick, friendly service, cheap prices and pretty good food. Especially if, like me, you're from Texas, let me warn you that this is the only Mexican restaurant in Woodland Park worth visiting. Occasionally, the food experience can be a little inconsistent. For example, sometimes the rub on the fajitas is just right, other times a little too salty. If this happens, the staff are eager to please and will make it right. All of the traditional meals from enchiladas to fajitas are pretty good (this coming from a Texan in Colorado, so adjust accordingly). Not gourmet level, not the awful bad Italian called Mexican at other local restaurants. Higher end food (with higher prices) in the genre can be found in the Springs if you really want that. What they do have is just a fun, satisfying Mexican meal that I've returned to many times. Bottom line: Food is good value for the price for most of the menu, the staff will do anything to make you happy, and the atmosphere is clean and fun. If you want Mexican, it's the only place in town.

This place needs improvement on their food! The food taste bland! This is not authentic or even great! I make better Mexican food and I'm a white girl. Lol! Everything tastes the same and the service can be better. Anybody that likes this place doesn't know what real Mexican food taste like, trust me you'll find better Mexican food going to Colorado Springs to Hacienda. Mexican food in woodland park isn't great. Save your money and go else where.

Food was good, the staff were all friendly and polite. The decor is amazing mexi-kitsch, with the world's creepiest painting in the lobby.
(4)Stephanie C.
The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. The food was really great. Everything tasted awesome. The staff was very friendly and entertained my 16 month old when he got restless and walked around a little. I would defiantly recommend this place!

I have been here several times and they have had great margaritas and the food is pretty good. Today was a different story. My wife and I went in and ordered two top self margaritas and a taco salad. The margaritas were horrible! Tasted like straight lime juice, pretty much clear. I immediately called our waiter back and told him about the drinks, he said sorry and took them and brought back two more. Again they were awful! My wife and I could not drink them. We had about 3 drinks from them and ate our taco salad, which was really good. I asked for the bill, we were gonna pay for the gross margs and leave. This is where It went really bad!!! Tyler our waiter asked if there was something wrong with the margaritas. I said they were still not good and tasted like lime juice. He expressed that there was no bartender on duty and he had made the first two and another guy made the last two. He said he knew what was in them and he sells them all day! At that point I asked to speak to the manager and he said "If you don't like something you should let us know right away and not drink half of if and send it back" My wife and I could not believe this! We took three drinks out of them! The manager "Kevin" was not on duty so he called him. I spoke to him and told him of the situation. He said sorry and removed the drinks from our bill. Not sure if we will ever go back...

LOVE this restaurant! The decor is so colorful and charming, I feel happy just looking around the dining room! Food is great; we love the chips covered in thick, melty, stretchy cheeses; My faves are the Chicken Taquitos and Pollo Borracho. We haven't tried any desserts here yet, though, because the meals are so big, we're always too stuffed to try one!
(5)Jason O.
Very good food! Gave you plenty, so you left satisfied. Our waiter was very nice and informative. Will go back when we return to the area.
(5)Earl C.
Food was good. But my big complaint is that they start vacuuming the carpet while customers are still eating with 30 minutes before close! And the vacuum is so loud you can barely hear any conversation.
(2)Cynthia T.
Mushy enchiladas, tasteless runny beans and a cheese sauce I'd swear came from a can. I can't even give this place a second try. I suggest you just keep on drivin' past this establishment.
(1)Debbie B.
First visit: Food and drink good, but really not good chips so sorta ruined the experience. :( Second visit: I'm upping to four stars because the food was quite good. The chips n salsa aren't the best but they at least weren't stale this time.
(4)Jonathan S.
The ambiance and mood of the restaurant was fun and clean. The food is what stood out the most. Fantastic food and excellent attention by the servers. A must in Woodland Park if looking for Mexican food.
(5)Andy G.
OMG!!! We come to Woodland Park and Manitou about a dozen times a year. We were craving Mexican food, and in spite of some of the reviews here re: service, we took a chance. BIG MISTAKE. 1) While waiting to order, we heard two other tables comment about the service. In fact the table next to us said, "You know, if not for the service, this would be a pretty good restaurant." 2) While waiting to place our order, we asked for more chips, our waiter ignored us. 3) Our waiter didn't understand simple questions like, "What does that come with?" In fact, when asked, "What vegetables are on the Veggie Fajitas?", he replied "No, No." OK, language barrier, so we asked for help from the manager... 3) The manager was outright rude. We got up and left. I'm sorry, but when bad service compromises the basic enjoyment of a meal, it's not worth staying. We're going to try Serrano's next time instead.

Myself and a girlfriend began our friendship at this restaurant with our two daughters in attendance. The wait staff is WONDERFUL and the kids sat at a different table and were taken very good care of. The food is wonderful....my goodness we ate so much, the atmosphere is very quaint......I suggest if you are in the area that you dine at this establishment. BRAVO!
(5)Shanna V.
One of my favorite restaurants up here in Woodland Park. They have very good food and the atmosphere/decor is great. Also, they have my beloved banana daiquiri which many places do not. They automatically go on my top ten list just for that :)

Yummy place with you very nice staff. The food is yummy!

Whoa these were huge portions! We came here for dinner once during a few days of field work. So keep in mind how important it is to keep your helpers well-fed and happy. I'm talking about two guys with voracious appetites. We walked in to this festively decorated establishment and as I watched giant plates piled high with food go by, I was convinced that my helpers would be more than satiated. An important aspect as this was my treat and I didn't want to have to buy supplemental food at the end of the night. The burrito was huge! I don't think helper #1 struggled eating it all (remember, voracious appetite), but he was stuffed! Helper #2 got the enchiladas. The plate of cheesy saucy enchiladas, rice, and beans definitely did him in. He went home with a little midnight snack. I had the perfect amount of food for me in the form of 2 crunchy tacos (asada and carnitas). Overall, the food isn't bad for what it is (3.5)! Not expecting spectacular food in Woodland Park... never mind Mexican, I was pleasantly pleased to find this place. The service is friendly, the portions are huge, the price is right, and they have beer. There's not much more a hungry field team could want.

While attempting to order one of their famous margaritas, the waiter just walked away. The food was bland, and no hot sauce at the table to spice it up. Verde burrito came with tasteless pork, bland green sauce, and off-tasting vinegary vegetables. Waiter disappeared and had to ask one of the bus boys for the check.
(1)Richard W.
My wife and I eat there on almost a weekly basis since the food is always consistently good and it's very close to where we live here in Woodland Park. My favorite dish is the Carne Asada. Best I've ever eaten and their Margaritas arn't bad either.
(4)Lisa M.
Always wonderful food and service, probably my favorite restaurant in town!
(5)Hil M.
There's a Fiesta Mexicana in Mount Vernon, Ohio I've been to, so I had to try this one out. The decor is very nice and overall a tidy restaurant. The service was good but the food left something to be desired. We ordered a seafood enchilada which was nice, although lacking in quantity of seafood, and a chicken fajita dish that was almost cold when it got to the table. Am I wrong, or should a fajita dish be sizzling hot?! I like mexican food, but I won't return here. I'd much rather give the other restaurants in town a try. It wasn't a bad experience, just not great. And I love to cook, so if I'm going to pay someone else to cook for me, it better be tastier than what I can make at home, which it wasn't.

very festive

Went for lunch on a weekday with my four children ages 2-16. Staff was extremely attentive and incredibly nice. We felt like we were at our family's home for lunch. The food was superb, came out piping hot, and was DELICIOUS. My older daughters ordered burritos, I had a combo plate with cheese enchilada, beans, rice, and chili renello, and the little ones split a kids quesadilla plate. There was enough food for each of us to take home and enjoy for lunch the next day! We were constantly asked if we wanted drink refills, and the chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. As a special treat we had the sopapillas, and they weren't as tasty as my husband's, but a nice second. They came drizzled with honey, sugar and cinnamon and topped with a drop of whipped cream and a cherry--a bit unusual for us, but very flavorful. As soon as we left we had plans to visit again.
(5)Miguel G.
We love this restaurant!! We even make special trips to Woodland Park to eat here. My wife loves it and she is picky when it comes to Mexican food! Always fresh and always friendly service. Authentic Mexican served here.
(5)Dennis B.
The best Mexican restaurant in the area? Why? Great prices, huge selection including vegetarian and no-cholesterol beans, and FRIES for the kiddies :-) We had a party of 12, and there was plenty of room upstairs for us. Veggie and chicken fajitas, mushrooms fried in garlic with avocado slices, queso fundido - everything was seasoned nicely. The only negative was that the service was a bit slow and inattentive, but we were a party of 12. All in all, great value and nice food.
(5)Holly M.
Great guacamole and good margaritas. The service could be a little better at times, but overall I've always had a pleasant experience. I love getting the guacamole because they serve it in a large tortilla bowl. Plenty to share when you're grabbing drinks with friends.

Ambiance- 3 (10%) Brightly colored tables and chairs. Small walkways between tables. Nick knack decor. Cleanliness- 4 (20%) Tables and chairs were clean. Restrooms and floors well kept. Service- 2 (25%) Waiter was not very attentive. He did not fill water glasses promptly, when we asked for more chips it took him 5 minutes to bring them- even with only one other occupied table in the restaurant. Food- 3 (35%) We ordered chicken nachos and Vegetable Fajitas. The nachos were average. The vegetable fajitas were very greasy. Value- 3 (10%) We went for lunch. Average pricing for Mexican fare.

Stopped in for lunch recently. Inside is typical campy overdone mexican family restaurant decor which is fine when the food is three stars. Not the case here. After a long wait (~30m) on what seemed like a slow day, our food arrived a bland bare-minimum attempt at Tex-Mex. Do not want. Service was on across the spectrum. Our waiter couldn't seem to care to come check in on us. There was another waiter that was pulling his slack, constantly coming by to refill our drinks and chips & salsa while we waited for our food.

Ambiance: Great two-story restaurant that is decorated in a festive Mexican "fiesta" theme. Roomy booths. There are a few outdoor tables that are in use during nice weather. Service: Beyond friendly. Some of the best service I have received at a Mexican restaurant. You honestly feel they appreciate your patronage. Food arrived timely, and constant refills of soda and chips. Food: This is one of the best Mexican places in El Paso/Teller counties. I ordered a three-item combination, and it arrived on the largest platter I have seen in a restaurant. Generous portions. Great chili relleano (though I could have had mine with a little more heat.) Good enchiladas with a good, hearty red sauce. Tacos were just ok (I don't like it when they serve your taco on it's side, and all the lettuce and cheese falls out and mixes into your other items.) Decent beans and rice. Very good, chunky salsa. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience. Food is fresh, plentiful, and for the most part, prepared very well. This place is worth the extra drive up to Woodland Park for good Mexican food, and so much better than most of the places in Colorado Springs.
(4)Amy S.
Wow. I have had better service in the barrios of Mexico. We walked out without ordering b/c the waiter spoke no English and the manager was rude when I asked a question about ingredients (b/c of allergies). What a waste of 20minutes.

If you are ever in Woodland Park, CO., visit Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant. You will not be disappointed. Very authentic Mexican cuisine. The portions are bigger than other restaurants of the same fare and very good. I had the Super burrito with chicken and it was Huge. My wife and daughter shared the Fajitas for 2 with chicken and strip steak and the skillet was large with plenty of meat and onions and bell peppers. They got separate plates of rice and other additions for the fajitas. They did not even eat half of the skillet. The wait staff are friendly and very hospitable with making sure that you enjoy your visit. The only down side is a small parking lot so you might have to park in the alley behind them.
(5)Byron C.
Great place for Mexican if you are in the Woodland Park area. Good food and a very cool and happy owner. House margaritas are also large and pretty strong.
(4)James H.
This is a nice Mexican restaurant in WP. The food is quality and the waitstaff is nice and even friendlier if you speak a little Spanish.
(3)Joey S.
Three margaritas wanna be. Good food. Great value. Nice staff.
(4)D'Arci R.
Wonderful, friendly service! The Chicken Mole' was awesome...although, I did ask for an extra bit of mole sauce. The decor is great. The salsa and chips were fresh. We went on a Sunday evening and did not have a wait.
(4)Andrew M.
I LOVE this place - so does my family. It's actually a mini-chain restaurant - I know for sure there's one in Salida CO too, and a few other small cities in the west. We stop there whenever we can as we're passing through Woodland Park. The food is ALWAYS fresh and hot out of the kitchen. The wait staff are attentive and friendly. Want a super treat - try the queso fundido appetizer. It's amazing.
(5)Richard H.
We had an excellent experience here. Atmosphere was nice, the food was great -- my wife had the seafood enchiladas and I had the carne asada. Service was polite and prompt. We will definitely go back again.
(5)Katie K.
If you like your typical, sort of okay Mexican, you'll love it. I asked if they made they're mole in house or if they bought it. Thy store buy it. That stuff is disgusting and shouldn't even hold the name mole. I went with the chile relleno. The rice was fluffy with not much flavor. The chile was cooked well, what freaked me out was the cheese on the inside that wasn't melted at all. Beans looked like they were from a can. In their defense, no one goes into Woodland Park for their Mexican food.
(3)Brian B.
Very good mexican! Nice small place with quality food. Nice detailed decorations. Would definitely go here again.
(5)Will S.
Bad food and terrible service!
(1)Ben S.
The wait was too long for the quality of the food.
(1)BeeBee H.
I consider this the best Mexican available in WP. We usually order enchiladas suiza and chicken quesadillas and they're always delicious. My girls love the chili con queso. You take your chance with the chips and salsa...some days it's pretty warm, but I like spicy. I know this is weird, but hands down, the carbonation in the sodas is the best in town. We probably eat here once a week :)
(4)Sophie S.
I've never had terrible Mexican until I ate here. It was honestly so bland, cold, and soggy. Never again.
(1)Don R.
This past Thursday evening with my wife being in Colorado Springs and I having worked outside all day, the notion of enjoying a good Mexican dinner instead of cooking for myself was acted upon. In my mind, the only worthy Mexican Restaurant in Woodland is Fiesta Mexicana. Contrary to my past dinners at this establishment, the food was only average tasting. Although the food bill was reasonable, my single bottle of Coors Light was too expensive for a local restaurant. The service was efficient, but not personable. The host at the door actually waited on me. I ordered the Chicken Borracho for about $15.00. The mushrooms outnumbered the chicken pieces on the plate...a slight disappointment. I was ok with the dish but I doubt I would order the entree again. Generally, I find the food to be good at Fiesta Mexicana. What struck me as a slight gouge was paying $4.25 for a bottle of domestic beer. This place is not the Swiss Chalet or The Broadmoor.

ZERO stars. Been coming here since I lived in town which has been over 3 years. I usually come for margaritas at least twice a month. My father wanted Mexican for father's day and drove up from Denver for dinner since I'm busy with work it was easier that way. They put us upstairs which isn't usually too bad since you can see pikes peak better. Today we had to wait more than I ever have in the 3 years of coming here. My sister waited 10 minutes after we all were served. She had to ask where her food was. My dad only got one refill but they didn't mind refilling our Margarita they charge for. My mother in law opens her tortilla warmer to find a nice long black hair. We ask about it and the manager swears it's impossible as he doesn't allow long hair in his kitchen. He then implies the hairs came from my friend sitting by her. Why would he be touching her tortillas? My mother in law wasn't trying to make a scene so she didn't ask them to take the food away. So they charge us for the food she couldn't eat from loosing her appetite over arguing with manager where the hair came from. I eat out more than I cook so it's very unfortunate to loose another restaurant to eat at in wp when the selections are so very limited. I'd rather eat taco bell than be treated the way I was today. When I called to speak to the manager the lady hung up on me. So when I called back it rang for a very long time. The manager who answered acted like he didn't remeber me. He made me explain what happened when there were only 4 other tables upstairs and I said I was upstairs. He then hung up on me when I asked for a refund because my mother in law didn't want to be rude and leave the food. My dad also thought the whole experience was poor as he liked to bring his gf there. He doesn't think his dog will even eat the left overs... I've never really been treated decent there but today's experience crossed the line.
